Super Power Through a Deep Freezer...

34 We just said goodbye to our deep freezer -- it's been with us for five years. I never thought that something so big and bulky, seemingly so meaningless, could trigger so much emotion and tears.

The freezer has seen many things come in and out of it -- something so simple as a freezer has been such a blessing for us. We've always been the "whole hog, quarter cow" type of family... which has elated my carnivore husband. We have never gone without.

As we were cleaning up the freezer to deliver it to friends, I was flooded with memories of our five years in our house and all of the times our kiddies would beg for freezies and pull them out of the freezer... their sweaty little fingers needing help opening them, melting faster than they could eat them. I got a huge lump in my throat and the tears fell. Steph gave me a huge squeeze and said, "Think about it -- at any given point within the last few years, we've easily had a year's worth of meat in this freezer -- when children in Africa really don't know where their next meal is coming from." Amen, Brother Stephen... you are sooo wise (and cute, too!).

These are the moments we need to bottle -- moments such as these are awesome ooomphs for getting us in the field, especially when times get tough. He knows what he's doing. He has wonderful plans for us (Jeremiah 29:11), and quoting the kiddies' "Big Idea" in GoKids today: "[We] don't have to run and cower... God will give [us] Super Power!"

No freezer-less cowering here. It's all good. :)
