Ave is constantly on the lookout for new friends -- here he is on Jerry and Karen Holte's front veranda... he spied a lizard this morning.
I thought we'd do a little spotlight on our hunter and ask him what his favorite things are in Swaziland to find, so they're below. Please note that we strictly run a catch-and-release program. Nothing is harmed, and certainly nothing is sauteed for dinner!
-Salamanders, Blueheads, and Skinks
-Frogs and Toads
and...
-Long, green, creepy flying stick bugs (but just to spy on, not to catch!)
This backdrop behind Ave in the picture is our veranda... there are a lot of great plants for critters, so he doesn't have to go very far to look for them. Just think of all of the fun you'd have if you would visit. This morning we had a skink loose, upside down, hanging from the ceiling, and the three kiddies chased it around for over thirty minutes trying to get it outside. They managed to capture him -- in two pieces. The little guy decided to drop the tail. :(
